A Mini Build

Sometimes at work I find myself with a minute or two and my mind wanders a lot. Yesterday it wandered to the Fireman’s bike I had on my desk. Now I find myself with a very Marmite type feeling to this incarnation of bikes.

Sometimes I like the bulky front ended style, but sometimes the contrasting weak rear frustrates me. Toying with it I removed the wheels and it reminded me a little of the bike that the main character rode at the start of Titan A.E. Blasting through the space salvage yard.
So once again I dipped into the scraps of Lego pieces I have in my desk drawer and modified it slightly…

One of the struggles was to make it so I could affix bricks where the wheels used to be. More specifically the front one, else you could just put the wheels back and the bike would look like it had, just with some additions. So I used a claw clip from a scarab I had and the ‘handle’ type piece from its head;

The remaining pieces you might recognise from a Chima gun, used to hide the overrun of the yellow bar used underneath – I imagined it as some sort of shield generator, my friend said it looked almost Ben Hur-esque – and a blue axe head. Also from Chima, used as an energy wing.

The second ‘wing’ at the rear is from a small set I found that was from an Underwater range, which is where the air grilles sticker came from. The little hand gun on the front comes from Star Wars, just because I fancied a replacement for the blue light.

I used Emmet as the rider to show that even with additional bricks on the minifig they can still ride the bike, so if wanted, e rider could wear armour or a space suit etc.

All in all I’m very happy with this mini model and it’s randomness compacted into such a small model. Now I just have to not get caught ‘shooming’ it around my desk!

Have you modified the bikes in anyway to make them more your own? I’d love to see, or just to know what your inspiration was if you did.

Till next time!
